Feeding Screw Conveyor
Feeding a hot process is one of the toughest jobs in bulk handling. TiERMAX feeding screw conveyors, also called charging screws, deliver fuel, sludge, biomass, petcoke and other bulk solids into combustion chambers, calcining furnaces, fluidized-bed reactors, gasifiers and waste-to-energy plants.
Where heat or process conditions rule out a bearing at the discharge end, a cantilevered single-sided design keeps the screw running reliably and is usually the most economical option. Shaft and trough sections can be cooled to protect the structure, or heated when the process needs it. Hard-facing, wear liners and abrasion-resistant steels extend service life, and multi-shaft versions raise mass flow and improve self-cleaning on sticky feeds.

Engineered charging screws for thermal processes
Every feeding screw is designed around three questions: what the material does, how hot the receiving vessel is, and how much must be fed per hour. From that we select the shaft geometry, flight thickness, materials of construction, seal at the process wall and any cooling or heating circuits. The result is a feeder that keeps a steady, controllable flow into the process without bridging or backflow.

Advantages of a TiERMAX feeding screw conveyor
Steady, controllable feed. A variable-frequency drive sets the feed rate, so the screw can follow burner or reactor demand.
Works where bearings can’t. Cantilevered designs eliminate the hot-end bearing that fails first in conventional conveyors.
Long service life on abrasive material. Hard-faced flights, replaceable liners and wear-resistant steels reduce downtime.
Temperature protection. Water-cooled shafts and jackets protect the conveyor near furnace openings.
Self-cleaning options. Twin- and multi-shaft designs clear sticky material and increase throughput.
Feeding screws are often combined with rotary valves for sealing and with cooling screws on the discharge side of the same process. Our engineers can review your feed point and recommend a complete arrangement.
