Vertical packaging machine
A vertical packaging machine, or vertical form fill seal (VFFS) machine, turns a flat roll of film into finished bags in one continuous cycle. This large-bag model is built for products such as seeds, animal feed, pet food, potting soil, plastic granules and other low-density materials in a wide range of particle sizes.
How a VFFS Bagger Works
Film from the reel wraps around a forming tube and is heat-sealed along its length and across the bottom. Servo-driven rubber toothed belts with a self-centering device pull the film down to the set bag length, while the doser drops a measured charge of product into the bag. Servo-driven sealing jaws then close the top and form the gussets. Interchangeable forming tubes make size changeovers quick.

Why Choose a Vertical Form Fill Seal Machine
VFFS machines deliver high bag rates in a small footprint. Since the bag is made from roll film, there are no pre-made bags to buy, store and load, which cuts packaging cost. Pillow, gusseted, block-bottom and quad-seal formats are possible depending on the model and film.

Integration and Sanitary Design
The machine connects to multihead weighers, auger fillers, volumetric cups or screw feeders, and downstream to checkweighers, metal detectors, case packers and palletizers. Sanitary versions with easy-clean surfaces are available for food packaging, and guarding with safety interlocks protects operators.

Frequently Asked Questions
A VFFS machine is an automatic packaging system that forms bags from flat roll film, fills them and seals them in a continuous process. It packages powders, granules, pellets, food, chemicals and other bulk products.
It forms the bag around a forming tube, fills it with a measured charge and heat-seals it. Servo film handling, precise dosing and modern controls give fast, accurate and consistent packaging.
Plastic pellets, fertilizer, seeds, animal feed, pet food, food ingredients, chemicals and minerals. The filler is chosen to match the product's flow, bulk density and particle size.
Pillow bags, gusseted bags, flat- or block-bottom bags, quad-seal bags and stand-up pouches, depending on the model, film and product.
Multihead weighers, auger fillers, screw feeders, volumetric cup fillers and vibratory feeders. The right filler gives accurate, consistent bag weights at high speed.
It delivers fast, accurate, fully automatic packaging with lower labor and film costs, and integrates with conveyors, checkweighers, printers and palletizers.
Yes. Suitable fillers, dust extraction, controlled feeding and the right sealing method keep dusty products under control.
