Test Lab
Test your material. Validate the process. Engineer the right system.
Every bulk solid behaves differently. Before recommending equipment or committing to a full system, TiERMAX can test your actual product under representative conditions to see how it flows, feeds, conveys, mixes, screens, dries, heats, cools and discharges. Testing reduces engineering risk, confirms equipment selection and sets the operating parameters for a reliable integrated system.
“The surest way to know how a material will behave in a process is to test the real product before we design the system around it.”
— TIERMAX Engineering Team
01. Material Characterization & Flow Evaluation
Successful equipment selection starts with understanding the material. We evaluate the physical and flow characteristics that directly influence equipment sizing, feeding accuracy, conveying performance, discharge reliability, and overall system design.
Testing and evaluation can include:
- Bulk density and material behavior
- Particle size and product characteristics
- Flowability and discharge behavior
- Bridging, arching, and rat-holing tendencies
- Cohesive or sticky material behavior
- Dust generation and handling characteristics
- Material response to different operating conditions
02. Equipment & Process Testing
Depending on the application, TIERMAX can perform or coordinate trials using representative equipment and process configurations to determine the most suitable technology for your product.
Testing can cover applications such as:
- Dosing and feeding
- Pneumatic and mechanical conveying
- Mixing and blending
- Screening & Sieving (Safety Sieving, Dedusting, Classification)
- Solid-liquid separation
- Bulk bag and sack discharging
- Filling and bagging
- Heating, Cooling, Drying & Thermal Processing
- Milling & Particle Size Reduction
03. Application-Specific Testing
For challenging materials, standard equipment data may not be enough. We develop test procedures around the specific process conditions of your application. The objective is not simply to prove that equipment can handle the material, but to determine how it should be engineered to perform reliably under your actual process conditions.
Testing can also evaluate material behavior at different processing temperatures, including changes during heating, cooling, drying, and other thermal processes.
This is particularly valuable for materials that are:
- Difficult to flow or discharge
- Cohesive or prone to bridging
- Heat-sensitive
- Sticky at specific temperatures
- Subject to changes in behavior at different temperatures
- Abrasive or fragile
- Hygroscopic or moisture-sensitive
- Difficult to convey, feed, mix, or separate consistently
Test Lab & Material Testing
Validate your material and process with real-world trials. Our test lab helps define the right equipment and operating conditions for reliable, scalable performance.
04. Validate Equipment Selection Before Scale-Up
Test results give our engineering team practical data for selecting and sizing the equipment.
This reduces uncertainty before moving into detailed engineering and full-scale system design.
Where applicable, testing can help establish:
- Suitable equipment technology and configuration
- Required throughput and operating range
- Feed and conveying rates
- Mixing or residence time
- Screen size and separation performance
- Operating speed and equipment settings
- Temperature and thermal process requirements
- Material discharge and flow-assistance requirements
05. From Test Results to an Integrated System
TIERMAX's Test Lab capability is part of our broader system-integration approach. The information developed during testing can be carried directly into mechanical design, automation, equipment selection, and process integration.
Instead of testing the material in isolation, we look at the complete process:
Raw Material → Discharging → Dosing & Feeding → Conveying → Processing → Separation → Filling & Packaging
This allows TIERMAX to develop an integrated solution in which individual machines are selected and engineered to work together as one complete system.
06. Reduce Project Risk Before Investment
Testing provides an opportunity to identify potential material-handling problems before equipment is fabricated and installed.
A properly planned material trial can help:
- Reduce equipment-selection risk
- Identify flow and handling problems early
- Validate process feasibility
- Optimize equipment configuration
- Establish realistic design parameters
- Reduce commissioning adjustments
- Improve confidence before capital investment
From Testing to Engineering
A successful test is only the start. Once we understand your material, our mechanical and automation engineers use the results to build the equipment, controls and complete process system.
