Aero Mechanical Conveyor
An aero-mechanical conveyor (AMC) is a tubular cable-and-disc conveyor. A wire rope fitted with evenly spaced polymer discs runs at high speed through two parallel tubes, driven by sprockets in the inlet and outlet housings.
How the Aero-Mechanical Conveyor Works
Material entering the inlet is drawn into the fast-moving air stream created by the discs. Each disc carries a pocket of fluidized product, so the material travels as a stable air-solid mixture rather than being dragged along the tube. Because product does not slide against the tube wall, friable and blended materials arrive without breakage or segregation. That makes the AMC a good choice for premixes, coated granules, milk powder and other sensitive products.

Efficient, Low-Power Conveying
The high disc speed displaces air and fluidizes the product. Combined with the high conveying speed, this moves large volumes with much lower power than a comparable pneumatic system, and without a blower, compressor or filter receiver.

Discharge and Closed-Loop Air Return
At the outlet, product leaves by centrifugal force as the discs turn around the sprocket. The displaced air returns through the second tube, forming a closed loop. No air is vented, so the conveyor stays dust-free and keeps product in and contaminants out.

Applications
Aero-mechanical conveyors serve food and beverage plants, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical production, chemical and pigment handling, plastics and resin compounding, and agricultural and feed operations. They often load mixers, hoppers and packaging machines from a bulk bag discharger or bag dump station. For longer distances, compare with a pneumatic conveying system or vacuum conveying system.

Frequently Asked Questions
An aero-mechanical conveyor is an enclosed conveyor that uses a high-speed cable with discs to move powders and granules, without compressed air.
The moving cable and discs create an internal air stream that fluidizes the product, so it travels quickly and gently through the enclosed tubes.
It handles a wide range of powders, granules, pellets and other free-flowing materials in food, chemical, plastics, agricultural and mineral applications.
No. The cable and discs generate their own airflow, so no compressor, blower or plant air is needed.
Yes. Routes can be vertical, horizontal or a combination, to suit the plant layout.
Yes. The fluidized conveying principle minimizes breakage, attrition and segregation.
Yes. Food-grade stainless steel versions are standard options, and explosion-protected designs are available for combustible dusts. Hazardous-location requirements are reviewed for each U.S. project.
Compared with pneumatic conveying, it offers high throughput, lower energy use, simple installation and dust-free conveying with no compressed air or filter receiver.
Yes. Options include construction materials, inlet and outlet designs, inspection windows, mobile frames and different conveying layouts.
Selection depends on material characteristics, required capacity, conveying distance and plant layout. We recommend material testing to confirm the best configuration.
