Twin Screw Feeder
When a powder bridges, floods, clumps or simply refuses to flow, a single auger often can’t keep up. The TiERMAX twin screw feeder uses two intermeshing screws that wipe each other clean as they turn, giving positive, pulse-free discharge of pigments, titanium dioxide, carbon black, fibers, flakes, moist or lumpy materials and other hard-to-handle bulk solids.
Every model is available as a volumetric feeder or as a loss-in-weight gravimetric feeder. All product contact parts are stainless steel, the screws pull out for fast cleaning, and a common screw interface lets one feeder cover a broader range of rates simply by changing the screw set. A horizontal agitator, with an optional vertical agitator, keeps the trough full so the output stays steady. Typical users include plastics compounders, masterbatch producers, food and dairy plants, chemical and pharmaceutical processors and dosing and feeding lines across the U.S.
Twin Screw Feeder - Models
Three twin screw feeder series match different accuracy and flow requirements: HTF high-accuracy loss-in-weight, STF standard loss-in-weight and VTF volumetric.
Model HTF – High-Accuracy Loss-in-Weight Twin Screw Feeder
Model HTF is the high-accuracy loss-in-weight twin screw feeder.
Dual feedback with double closed-loop control gives fast response and accuracy up to ±0.2%.
Horizontal and optional vertical agitation keep difficult powders from bridging.
Interchangeable screws and easy-clean parts cover a wide feeding range.
Model STF – Standard Loss-in-Weight Twin Screw Feeder
Model STF is the standard loss-in-weight twin screw feeder.
Single-loop control with refined PLC signal processing delivers accuracy up to ±0.5%.
Agitation supports steady feeding of poorly flowing powders.
Quick-release parts and interchangeable screws simplify cleaning and rate changes.
Model VTF – Volumetric Twin Screw Feeder
Model VTF is the volumetric twin screw feeder for cost-effective continuous feeding.
It suits processes that do not need gravimetric accuracy.
Horizontal and optional vertical agitation improve flow and prevent bridging.
Interchangeable screws and modular parts give flexible rates and easy maintenance.
Twin Screw Feeders - Benefits
A twin screw feeder keeps difficult bulk solids moving at a steady, measured rate. Self-cleaning screws and active agitation reduce stoppages and protect product quality in demanding production lines.

Why two screws work better on difficult powders
In a twin screw feeder the two flights mesh and self-clean, so material cannot build up on the screw or form a stagnant core. The result is a more uniform fill and a more repeatable discharge than a single auger can give on cohesive, low-density or aerated products. It is the preferred choice for pigments, fillers, fibers, fumed silica, cocoa, milk powder and similar materials.

Volumetric twin screw feeders
A volumetric model sets output by screw speed. It is simple to operate and economical, and it works well when bulk density is consistent. The VTF series combines a stainless steel hopper, an interchangeable twin screw set, a gearmotor with variable-frequency drive and a compact frame that integrates easily with mixers, conveyors and extruders.

Loss-in-weight twin screw feeders
For precision dosing, the HTF and STF series mount the feeder on a weighing frame. The controller measures the rate of weight loss and adjusts screw speed continuously, so the feed rate stays on target even when density shifts during a run. This is essential for compounding, continuous mixing and any recipe where an additive must stay within a tight percentage.
Load cells, stainless steel construction and a self-diagnostic routine protect accuracy over time, while tool-free disassembly keeps cleaning and changeovers short. A lump breaker or dispersing agitator can be added for materials that tend to rat-hole or bridge in the hopper.

Twin screw or single screw?
If your material flows freely, a single screw feeder is usually the lower-cost answer. If it is sticky, fine, fibrous or inconsistent, a twin screw design will hold the rate more reliably. Send us a sample and our engineers will run a feed test before you commit to a configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions
A twin screw feeder uses two intermeshing screws to meter powders and other bulk solids into a process at a controlled rate. It is designed for materials that are cohesive, sticky, light or prone to bridging.
A volumetric model controls output by screw speed. A gravimetric (loss-in-weight) model weighs the feeder continuously and corrects screw speed to hold an exact rate in lb/h or kg/h.
Two self-cleaning screws give more uniform discharge on cohesive, sticky or low-density materials that tend to pulse or bridge in a single screw feeder.
Fine powders, pigments, carbon black, titanium dioxide, fibers, flakes, food ingredients, chemicals, pharmaceutical powders and battery materials.
Use loss-in-weight control when the recipe requires tight accuracy, when bulk density varies, or when you need recorded feed-rate data.
Under suitable conditions the HTF series reaches ±0.2% and the STF series ±0.5% of setpoint. Volumetric accuracy depends on how consistent the material is.
Plastics and masterbatch, food and dairy, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, battery materials and mineral processing.
Material behavior, feed rate, required accuracy, screw geometry, hopper size, refill method and how the feeder connects to your controls.
Clean the screws and trough at changeovers, inspect bearings and seals regularly, and check load cells and drives on gravimetric units.
