Sack Discharging Station

A bag dump station, also called a sack discharging station, is where small bags of powder enter your process. The operator rests the bag on a grated shelf, cuts it open and empties it into the hopper. An integrated dust collector or extraction connection pulls airborne dust away from the operator and returns captured fines to the product stream.

TiERMAX offers manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic sack openers. Final design depends on the material, bag size, discharge rate, downstream equipment, ergonomics, hygiene and safety. Stations can include filters, lump breakers, safety screens, load cells and a dosing device at the outlet. Automatic sack openers cut and empty bags without manual contact and can be specified with clean-in-place (CIP) washing and drying.

Sack Discharging Station - Benefits

Dust Control at the Bag Dump Station

Manual bag dumping is one of the dustiest jobs in a powder plant. A self-contained filter with cartridge cleaning, or a hood ducted to a central dust collector, captures dust at the source. That protects operators, keeps the area clean and reduces cross-contamination.

Ergonomics and Operator Safety

A bag shelf at working height, a hinged lid and a safety grate over the hopper reduce lifting and reaching. A lump breaker below the grate breaks up agglomerates, and the grate keeps bag pieces and foreign objects out of the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

A bag dump station (sack discharging station) is a handling system for safely opening bags and emptying their contents into downstream equipment while controlling dust and product loss.

The operator places the bag on the shelf, opens it and empties it into the hopper. An integrated dust collector captures airborne particles, keeping the work area clean.

It handles powders, granules and pellets used in food, chemical, pharmaceutical, plastics, mineral and battery material plants.

Main benefits are lower dust emissions, better operator safety and ergonomics, less product waste, higher productivity and simpler material transfer.

Manual, semi-automatic and automatic designs are available, depending on bag volume, material and production needs.

Yes. Vibrators, lump breakers, a separate dust collector and custom discharge designs help cohesive or difficult powders flow.

Yes. It can be combined with screw feeders, pneumatic and vacuum conveyors, bulk bag dischargers, dosing systems and sieves.

Consider the material, bag size, discharge rate, dust control, downstream equipment, hygiene standards, safety requirements and available floor space.

Yes. Options include integrated filters, dust extraction, stainless steel, explosion-protected designs and automatic bag opening. Hazardous-location requirements are reviewed for each U.S. project.
