Compact Screening Solution for 24/7 Plastic Recycling

The Challenge

A plastic recycling plant running 24/7 was having recurring problems with its vibrating screens while processing LDPE, PP and PE. The existing units showed abnormal vibration, structural cracking and component failures. Eventually one screen was bypassed, which let more sand and plastic contaminants reach the downstream purification system.

Space was tight, and limited headroom ruled out larger screens. The plant needed a screen that would run continuously and fit the existing layout.

The Solution

Rather than replacing the failed unit with another of the same diameter, the application was reviewed against real operating data: material throughput, water flow, filtration requirement, available space and maintenance access. The analysis showed that a compact multifrequency vibrating screen two sizes smaller could do the job.

The smaller screen delivered the required separation in a much smaller footprint, integrated more easily into the process, and gave better access for inspection, cleaning and mesh changes.

Equipment Supplied

Multifrequency vibrating screen (MLT Cuccolini technology), designed for continuous industrial duty with efficient separation, a compact footprint and practical maintenance access. See our solid-liquid separation sieve.

The Results

  • Effective screening restored in the process
  • Fewer contaminants reaching purification
  • More stable operation
  • Fewer vibration-related mechanical problems
  • Simpler inspection, cleaning and mesh replacement
  • A fit within the plant’s limited space

The key lesson: a bigger screen is not always a better screen. Sizing equipment to actual process conditions gives a more reliable, efficient result.

Our Engineering Approach

TiERMAX and its technology partner MLT Cuccolini evaluate the whole application, including material, throughput, separation target, space, connected equipment, maintenance access and operating conditions, before recommending a screen. The goal is equipment that is properly integrated and runs reliably for the long term in U.S. recycling and processing plants.
