Construction Materials Bagging Line – Built for Abrasive Products

Overview

Bagged sand, gravel and decorative stone are high-volume, low-margin products, and they are hard on packaging equipment. This automated line shows how abrasive building materials can be bagged, palletized and wrapped reliably, shift after shift, while controlling wear and dust.

The line was engineered with MF TECNO, TiERMAX’s technology partner for packaging and palletizing systems, and configured specifically for abrasive products.

The Challenge

At high rates, abrasive products wear product-contact parts continuously. Moisture and repeated impact add mechanical stress and shorten service intervals. Fine dust is a second problem: if it reaches the sealing jaws, it disrupts the heat seal and weakens the bag.

The goal was not only to hit the production rate, but to keep bag quality consistent and the line running through long production runs.

The Solution: A Line Built for Abrasive Materials

  • Vertical form fill seal (VFFS) bagger
  • Reinforced product-contact components
  • Elastomer linings in high-wear areas
  • Anti-wear hopper coating
  • Reinforced cross-sealing system
  • Dust extraction ahead of the sealing station
  • Automatic push palletizer
  • Automatic stretch wrapper

Wear protection is targeted at the areas in constant product contact, extending component life and cutting maintenance.

Dust Control for Reliable Seals

A dedicated dust extraction point just before the heat-sealing station removes airborne fines so the jaws seal a clean film surface. Seals stay consistent and bags are less likely to leak during palletizing, storage and shipping.

Automated Palletizing and Wrapping

Sealed bags go to a push palletizer that builds stable loads, then to an automatic stretch wrapper for secure, ready-to-ship pallets.

The Results

The line runs at up to 1,000 bags per hour, with up to 8,000 bags and about 265 short tons per day, and delivers:

  • Reliable packaging of highly abrasive materials
  • Less wear on critical components
  • Better seal integrity through dust control
  • Easy access to wear parts
  • Automatic bagging, palletizing and wrapping
  • Consistent performance on long runs

TiERMAX builds similar lines for U.S. aggregate, landscape and building-materials producers around their material, rate, bag format and site conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sand, gravel, pebbles, aggregates and similar abrasive mineral products. The configuration is chosen for particle size, abrasiveness, moisture, bulk density and required rate.

Elastomer linings, wear-resistant coatings and reinforced parts protect high-wear areas. Easy access to wear parts also shortens preventive maintenance.

Fine particles in the sealing area prevent a uniform heat seal. Extracting dust before the sealing station keeps sealing surfaces clean and seals consistent.

It depends on product, bag size, feeding and configuration. This line runs at up to 1,000 bags per hour and up to 8,000 bags per day.

Wear cannot be eliminated with abrasive products, so layout matters. When wear parts can be inspected and replaced without major disassembly, maintenance is faster and unplanned stops are fewer.
